A Homeless Veteran is Helped By Your Generous Support

A Veteran helped by HonorboundFoundation - Hanna Evanshanna-evans3

With her BA from the University of Central Florida in hand, and looking for a challenge, Hanna joined the Navy. Her skills as a cytological technician took her to South Korea, where she served for two years at Osan Air Base. “Korea was mind expanding,” she says. “It helped me see how Americans take for granted all the things we have.”

After Korea, Hanna served another two years at Fort Meade before leaving the Navy. As a civilian, she moved back to Florida and became a licensed massage therapist. But the economy was bad. She couldn’t earn enough. And she got evicted from her apartment.

“I spent three days sleeping in my car, and a lot of time after that couch surfing,” Hanna says, “that’s when I knew I needed help.” After struggling with homelessness, Hanna finally found a residential program for female veterans. Just when things were starting to look up, a huge car-repair bill hit. That brought Hanna to HonorBound and to your caring support.

Now, thanks to you, that repair bill is paid. Now with shelter and a vehicle to get around town, Hanna is able to look for a good job and work towards getting her own apartment.

“HonorBound understands what veterans go through,” Hanna says. “It was such a blessing to get this help. I’m so grateful. Now I can get back on my feet.”
