It’s an unprecedented world out there right now with the health pandemic still ongoing. And many of us are lucky to have so much, which includes having a car. Why donate your car? Because many veterans are not as lucky and donating your car to HonorBound Foundation can be a huge help to veterans in need.
Nearly 5 million veterans in America have some sort of service-related disability. This is especially true of veterans in recent years. About 41% of vets who served after 9/11 have a disability ranking from the Department of Veteran Affairs, which is a dramatic increase from the 25% of veterans in pre-9/11 eras.
Now you may be thinking, “what can I do to help?” Why donate your car? Well, the vehicle donation program was created with a mission to help the everyday veteran. Those who returned from the service with injuries and disabilities that completely changed the way they go through life.
The donation process is also made as easy as possible for you. There is absolutely no paperwork that you have to fill out! Our DMV and IRS experts will handle all the paperwork so you don’t have to worry about filling out a thing!
Then, when the donated vehicle is accepted and the donation process is completed, we will mail you the tax receipt that you will need to file your taxes and get the tax benefit. And, since you are donating your car to charity, you qualify for a tax deduction!
So why donate your car? There’s no need to fill out any donation forms, or even an IRS form, we handle all the paperwork and will provide you with the receipt you need to get a tax deduction.
This receipt will be necessary to fill out Form 1098-C when your taxes are prepared. If you have any questions about Form 1098-C and what you need to fill it out, you can visit the IRS website at https://www.irs.gov/ to learn more.
We also make it convenient for you to donate the car. We will tow your car away for free! There is absolutely no hassle with arranging times and dates or drop off locations like you would if you were selling the car yourself. Even if the vehicle does not run, we’ll still come pick it up, whether it be a car, truck, motorcycle, whatever!
You also might be wondering how donating your car will actually help veterans. Well, it does in a number of ways!
First, the sale of your donated vehicle can provide funds which will go toward helping buy a scooter or wheelchair for a disabled vet who needs it. Or your donation may be used to build a ramp for a disabled vet who has a scooter or wheelchair already, but does not have a proper ramp installed at their home.
Your donated car will also help with the daily costs that many struggling veterans have difficulty managing. That’s when many veterans contact HonorBound Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, to get help.
These costs can include needing to pay for the vet’s vehicle repairs, paying for any late utilities bills they might have so they can have power or water restored, or even helping with tuition costs so the vet can further a career.
Finally, donating your car not only helps veterans, but will also make you feel good. Did you know that it has been proven that supporting charities can have a positive impact on your physical and mental health? It’s better to give than receive and you can find this out for yourself if you donate your car.
